I don’t know about you, but I am ready for Spring to arrive. Not just for warmer temps but for longer days of light. No one really enjoys living in the dark. Alaska with all its beauty would be a difficult place to live for me with its months of nighttime. The bible tells us that Jesus is light and that we should walk in that light as His children. Part of that also means that we should share that light with others. To teach others that they too can come out of the darkness of sin and into the light of Christ. We should all be excited to share our faith with others. The mission of all God’s children is to persuade others to be God’s children. The Lord gave us this responsibility: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:19-20). This commandment has a ring to it, the fire of compassion, the breathe of life, the spirit of conquest, the call of sacrifice, the vision of the world, and the objective of God Himself in it.

More than three years of planning led up to Christ giving this commission, and His disciples were ready to get started with the task set before them. Once they started, they could not be pushed or threatened into stopping. The rulers commanded them to stop teaching in Acts 5:28,29; nor to speak at all in the name of Christ, but they continued boldly. So much so that the Jews marveled at their persistence and their courage, and could only find one explanation, “that they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). Teaching the Gospel to the whole world was not a task of just a few. It is true that the command was first given to the apostles, but Christ said that all who were baptized should be taught to observe all things that He commanded the apostles. That makes it the responsibility of every Christian, and every Christian should feel like Paul did, who said “woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16). The Lord has need for every Christian to show and to share the light of Christ to all. And while the task seems hard, we can know that we are not working alone, for He promised, “Lo, I am with you always” (Matthew 26:20). God Bless, Todd
