This Sunday, as we come to the fourth lesson in our Sunday morning series, we come to Jesus’ prayer for unity among His people that John records in his 17th chapter. It is a powerful prayer that contains such depth of desire about who we are as the redeemed of Jesus and about what Jesus calls us to be in order to reach those who have not yet believed. Transformed people are brought to that place in life so that they may be instruments of transformation for others. Jesus prays that we will be just that!

Our world is starving for the truth and for a message of hope from God that will eternally change their lives and their destiny. Jesus says that our witness to the world is completely wrapped up in our oneness. Our unity as believers and as a body speaks to those who are lost as nothing else does but that unity takes work and we must be intentional about achieving and maintaining it.

John 17 paints yet another beautiful portrait of what the gospel really is. I look forward to all of us sharing this text together! -Jim Brown
