A Note From The Director
From the Director…
Thanks for visiting our summer camp website! Camp Meribah has been a ministry of the Centerville Church of Christ since 1969. I have been blessed to be part of our summer camp for 22 years, serving the last 10 years as Director. My family loves spending time on The Hill!
Each summer, we offer four different camping sessions at Meribah. These sessions allow over 300 children to attend each year, spending time away from the distractions of everyday life and focusing our minds on growing closer to God. This summer, in an effort to better meet the needs of our campers and their busy schedules, we have adjusted our camping sessions and the age offerings. We hope this will allow even more kids to attend and experience the joy of Camp Meribah. Following are our 2018 dates, sessions, and prices:
June 11-13 Day Camp Ages 4-8 $75
June 13-15 Mini-Meribah Finished K-Finished 4th grades $75
June 17-22 Youth Week Finished 2nd-Finished 6th grades $200
June 24-28 Teen Week Finished 6th-Finished 12th grades $200
If you have never attended Camp Meribah, allow me to give you a description of each session we offer:
Day Camp is Monday-Wednesday from 7:30-3:30 each day. Day Campers attend Vacation Bible School at the Centerville Church of Christ, go to the creek and city swimming pool, play on the Mackendox Playground at Camp Meribah, slide on the slip-n-slide, and enjoy many other fun activities. This is a great session to begin with if your child has never attended camp or does not like spending the night away from home.
Mini-Meribah is a new session being offered this summer. It is a shorter version of our Youth Week. Check-in will be on Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm and check-out will be on Friday evening at 5:00 pm. Campers will participate in many of the same activities as Youth Week, such as team games, creek time, swimming at the city pool, Mackendox play time, devotionals, character appearances, and other fun activities. Mini-Meribah was created this year to serve as a transitional session for those campers wishing to spend the night at camp, but perhaps not ready for a full week session.
Youth Week is a full week session for campers who are prepared to spend a longer period of time away from home. This week was formerly known as Week 1 and Week 2 (or “regular weeks”). We simply combined these two weeks into one, and narrowed the age offering so kids will be alongside campers closer to them in age. Check-in will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday and check-out will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, like it was for many previous years. Campers at this session will participate in team games, creek time, swimming at the city pool, Great American Campout, Ken McDonald Hall Lock-In, Mackendox Block Party, Fireworks by Dud’s, devotionals, skits, Nighttime Scavenger Hunt, and other fun activities.
Teen Week is our most popular session each summer, with normally over 100 campers in attendance. This week tests one’s endurance as we are constantly on-the-go, participating in the traditional camp activities but also going on special trips. In the past, these trips have included Laser Quest, Buffalo River Canoeing, roller skating, Nashville Shores, Nashville Sounds games, bowling, karaoke, Tennessee River tubing, and other surprises. Check-in will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday and check-out will be at 5:00 pm on Thursday.
As you can see, there is something for kids of every age offered at Camp Meribah. If your age allows you to attend more than one session, we would be glad to have you multiple times. Applications will be mailed out in April to those who attended Camp Meribah last summer, so be eagerly awaiting those to arrive in your mailbox! At that same time, applications will be made available on this website as well as the Centerville Church of Christ office. Be sure to get those applications turned in as soon as possible, because we anticipate some of our sessions filling up quickly this summer. I hope you are as excited about Camp Meribah 2018 as the Chessor family! I look forward to seeing you soon on The Hill!
