Tulipwood has been designed especially for persons who may be elderly or handicapped. It was constructed with the assistance of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Tulipwood is overseen by a Board of Directors and operates under its own budget.
Tulipwood is a five-story building with 75 apartment units. Each apartment is separate, one bedroom unit with its own living and dining area, bedroom, bath and kitchen. Since each apartment is self-contained, Tulipwood has no central dining facility. Although apartments are unfurnished, each kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, a stainless steel sink, and ample counter and cabinet space. Window blinds and carpets are also furnished along with individual heating and cooling units. Each apartments has Television pre-wired and Telephone jacks. Tulipwood is also in a central location close to shopping, banks, and medical attention. There is available a community room, laundry, individual mail boxes, parking spaces, and a library.
Applicants must meet the following conditions to be eligible for residence:
Head of Household must be 62 years of age or older or a non-elderly handicapped person must be 18 years of age or older.
All residents must be physically and mentally capable of caring for themselves.
