For those who seek to know the power of Jesus displayed in His teachings, I provide the following short list of Jesus’ teachings. Seven passages are selected from the gospels. The reader may already know these teachings, in which case I am pleased to remind you of them. Read carefully, listen attentively and put these teachings into practice.

1. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly of heart, and you will find rest in your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-29)

2. “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’.” (Matthew 22:37-39)

3. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” (Matthew 5:43-44)

4. “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25)

5. “For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26)

6. “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” (Matthew 19:21)

7. “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25-26)

While reading these seven teachings of Jesus, you may have noticed the simplicity of the message. Come to Me, Love God, Love your neighbor, Love your enemy, Do Not Worry, Know the Value of the Soul, Sell Your Possessions and Give to the Poor, Forgive all people for their sins against you. If you understand the message, take these words and put them into practice. Do not merely obey these commands, make them so fundamental to your character that obedience is no longer a conscious choice. Once you have attained that goal, you will automatically respond to all other people with love, compassion, and forgiveness without regard to their person or their behavior to you. You will praise and thank God during every moment of your life, recognizing the abundance of blessings which God has granted for enjoyment and edification.

I need not defend or justify this course of life to you. Your soul will acknowledge the path even if your mind rejects it. -Phil Sanders

God Bless -Todd
