We are off to a great start in our Gospel Meeting. Our attendance has been good, and the messages Bryan has brought have been very encouraging. I thank all our Centerville members who have faithfully supported this effort thus far. There’s still opportunity for you to come and be encouraged and uplifted on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Saul, the persecutor of the church became the Apostle Paul. He suffered hardships and persecutions for the cause of Christ (2 Cor. 11:23-28), he considered all his human achievements as loss for the cause of Christ (Phil. 3:7). As we look at the entire life of Paul, we see it as an example of the power of God to change one’s character and to reshape a life for good. There is no question that Paul fervently believed that Jesus was the Son of God, and he was committed to Him and sought to obey the Lord in all aspects of his life.

Because of Paul’s commitment God used Paul to define and defend the gospel from the land of Israel, throughout Asia Minor, across Greece, through Malta, Sicily, and Rome and all the while Paul wrote more New Testament letters than anyone. Yes, Paul was faithfully committed to the cause of Christ.

Paul’s faith in God and Jesus Christ as His Son led Paul to live the life that he did and as his life would come to an end he would write; “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing (2 Tim. 4:6–8). I

t wasn’t long after writing these words that tradition says he was led by Roman soldiers to a place of execution where he was beheaded for the cause of Christ. Even in death Paul was faithful to the cause of Christ and the spread of the gospel.

Are we like Paul, faithful to the cause of Christ and the sharing of the gospel to an evil world in need of some good news and the salvation that is offered in Christ? I pray one day to hear those words promised to the faithful Christian, “Well done, My good and faithful servant..”.

God Bless -Todd
