Our Weekly Bulletin
Sunday was a good day here at Centerville. We had 550 here for worship and good number for bible classes as well. Overall, it was a good Easter Sunday, and the good news is we will do it again this coming Sunday. I hope that what was a priority one Sunday will be a priority every Sunday. Yes, the Easter bunny comes once a year, but the command to worship God comes every first day of every week of every year!
I guess the big news of the week for the majority of the world is the passing of the Catholic leader, Pope Francis. What does that mean to Christians or to the Lord’s true church? Nothing really! The Bible teaches us that Jesus is the head of the church. Paul put it very simply in Colossians 1:18. “And he is the head of the body, the church…”. The church of Christ does not need two heads. Jesus Christ is deity (Col. 2:9). He has revealed His Word to us and ratified it with His precious blood (Matt. 26:28). It was once revealed to the saints (Jude 3) by the Holy Spirit of God (I Cor. 2:9-13). It needs no additions or subtractions (Rev. 22:18-19). It will govern until the Lord returns (II Tim. 3:16-17). Then, the Lord will use it to judge the world (John 12:48).
The church has a head and that head is no mere man. That head is Jesus Christ, the only begotten of God. He alone has the preeminence over the church. “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that fills all in all” (Eph. 1:22-23). So, brace yourself in the days and weeks to come for an abundance of man-made rite and ritual that man in his own mind has made up. “Let God be true, but every man a liar”.
See you Sunday!
God Bless -Todd
