Our Weekly Bulletin
Though most Tennessee football fans won’t admit it, Alabama for several years under coach Nick Saban was the most successful college football program in the country, winning multiple National Championships. Saban is without question one of the greatest football coaches to have ever coached the game.
Aside from the X’s and O’s of the game, Saban was a great motivator of players. He would get them to buy into the team first mentality. Giving yourself up for the benefit of the team. One of the things that he would say and that you would see all over the locker room was the statement “DO YOUR JOB”. Not said in a negative way, but in an encouraging way to each player to understand that if the team was going to succeed each player had to do their job.
Understanding evangelism is a lot like that. We have been given a job to do by Christ (Matthew 28:16-20) for the benefit of the Lord’s church and the benefit of saving lost souls. We are to “DO YOUR JOB” in telling others about Christ. Yes, there are multiple ways of doing this, our example, our love for others, etc…but that doesn’t remove the command to go and reach out and teach the lost. Yes, telling others about Jesus Christ and that salvation is through Him, and only Him, is the job all Christians have been given.
So, as we move forward with our mission of each member teaching and bringing just one soul to Christ in one year, we need to understand and commit to giving ourselves up for the cause of Christ and each of us, “DO YOUR JOB”!
God has promised to give the increase if we will try to spread His word. God Bless -Todd
