Hope In The Resurrection
Sunday, as we come to lesson two in our current preaching series about the resurrection, we listen to Paul’s words to the Corinthians about the hope that it provides. In the 15th chapter of I Corinthians, which will serve as our lesson text, Paul reminds his readers that the last enemy to be destroyed is death. He urges them to remain steadfast and not to give up and he tells us all that God has put everything under the feet of Jesus who has by His own resurrection conquered death.
As human beings, made of flesh and blood, we all find something to put our hope in. Some place their hope in the things of this life, not realizing that one day it will all be gone. Others place their hope in relationships, power, notoriety and fame. All of these, will one day be gone as well. Only in Jesus do we find true hope that lasts forever and that will bring us joy beyond anything we have ever experienced or could even imagine. If the resurrection is not true, Paul will tell us what that means. If it is true, he will also tell us what to expect. I look forward to exploring that with you Sunday!
