It was a wonderful Sunday to worship our God! I was encouraged by the presence of many and the desire to be together as a family, to fellowship with one another, and to honor, praise, and glorify our God. There are many things going on here at Centerville and we would love for you to plug into a bible class or any other groups that are active here. All of us if we live long enough have experienced some form of illness or the illness of a loved one.

All of us have at some level experienced the problems of life and the disappointments it sometimes holds. Just the problems that come about in our day-to-day living can many times overwhelm us to the point of being discouraged, depressed, and feeling totally alone. There is no one living who can escape some form or level of pain, sorrow, and disappointment.

When Jesus was around on the earth, He was always sensitive to what the people were going through both mentally and physically. Examples such as, when Jarius’ daughter died, Jesus cared (Matt. 9:18-19). When He came to the tomb of dead Lazarus, the bible says; “Jesus wept” (John 11:35). In Mark 10:46-52, Jesus in His triumphant entry into Jerusalem paused long enough to restore the sight of a blind man. Yes in His very own hour of trial, suffering, and the death He was about to die on the cross, our Lord still found time to reach out to His apostles in loving reassurance. He was so aware of what sorrow they were going to experience after He was gone, that he wanted to prepare them for it. He said to them, “Let not your hearts be troubled…” (John 14:1-4).

How does Jesus instruct us today on how to deal with the sorrows and troubles of this life? Do we ever see anywhere in the scriptures a type of denial or a type of dishonest pretense that “all is well”? Does Jesus ever suggest to us to escape our problems we need to lose them in drugs, alcohol, or to be bitter, critical, and blaming others about life? Certainly NOT! We have a loving Savior who wants to take the troubles that we are experiencing and work everything out for our own good and benefit. Paul said in Romans 8:28; “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”. If God could do this for Joseph and his family (Gen. 50:19-21), then He can certainly handle the troubles that we face today.

Brethren, let us as Christians receive and believe what Peter said in 1 Peter 5:7; “cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you”.

Isn’t it GREAT to be a Christian!!

God Bless -Todd
