In today’s fast-paced world, many things compete for our time, work, family, school, sports and personal obligations. With so much going on, it’s easy to wonder: Is it okay to miss church services for any reason? Does it really matter anyway if I’m there? The answer is Yes! It matters if you are there.

The Bible encourages regular assembly with fellow Christians. Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us: “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Some have argued that passage only applies to Sunday morning, but that is no where implied or said anywhere in this verse or any other for that matter.

Gathering for worship isn’t just about fulfilling a command; it strengthens our faith, encourages others, and allows us to praise God together. While there are legitimate reasons to miss, such as illness or unavoidable obligations, the danger comes when occasional absence turns into a habit. Over time, neglecting worship can weaken our spiritual walk.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” Making worship a priority demonstrates our love for God and our commitment to His church. Instead of asking, “Is it okay to miss?” perhaps we should ask, “What am I missing when I’m not there?”

When we gather, we share in communion, study God’s Word, sing praises, and encourage one another. These are blessings we don’t want to miss. May we always strive to put God first, knowing that He is worthy of our time, devotion, and worship.

God Bless -Todd
