This Sunday, as we come to lesson 8 in our current preaching series, ‘The Gospel’, we move to the book of Romans where Paul so beautifully describes the freedom we are granted in Jesus. It is a remarkable picture that Paul paints as he contrasts where we are if we live bound to and under law versus new life that has been granted us by the finished work of Jesus. This particular understanding is so important as we live out our lives as Christians and as we present the good news to others who need it so desperately.
Paul will contrast trying to earn favor with God by the keeping of a law that we will never keep and being in favor with God because of the sacrifice of His own Son who stood in our place and paid the price of our sin. This is a significant piece of what the gospel really is and it is critical that we understand and embrace it. Come Sunday with your Bible in hand as we study and learn together from Paul the gospel!
